Pelée in the spectacular port of St. Pierre, Martinique.

As we approach Martinique, the imposing sight of Mt. Pelée will be the perfect backdrop for a memorable landfall in St. Pierre — a historic town with a rich maritime history.

After exploring the beauty of Martinique, we’ll turn Libra northward for the passage back to St. Thomas. The return trip will offer a chance to refine your sailing techniques as we adjust to changing wind angles and navigate through open waters and sheltered passages.

Sailing Weather Overview: St. Martin to Martinique to St. Thomas

Sailing from St. Martin to Martinique and then north to St. Thomas offers a mix of open-water offshore sailing and sheltered island-hopping through the Leeward Islands and Windward Islands. The reliable northeast trade winds and generally moderate sea conditions make this route one of the most consistent and comfortable passages in the Caribbean. Here’s an overview of the typical weather you can expect along this passage:
