Libra is going back to Europe! The Trans-Atlantic is a bucket list MUST-DO for many sailors. There is no better way to experience the vast blue on a vessel specifically built for around-the-world blue water sailing with a very experienced captain! Learn how to disconnect on this epic journey across the pond and enjoy the wonderful sights and breathtaking nature the Azores offer on the other side.

Departing Bermuda, we will experience the big blue right out of the gate. Expecting a mix between warmer and cooler air, we will adapt to what nature brings us and follow the trade winds East. The journey of approximately 2000 NM will take around 2 weeks and you, as an active crew member, will participate in a rotational watch schedule. Our watches are 3 hours on and 6 hours off, rotating every day so you’ll get to experience every available watch-window. Moon rises, sunsets, starry skies, squally weather, sea life, flat seas, big waves - everything is possible.

Joining on a long voyage like this, you’ll experience how it is to disconnect and learn how to operate the vessel. Weather routing and readings will be a very important subject, but we will also talk about safety at sea, AIS management, radio operation and radar readings. We hoist and trim the sails, include voluntary galley training, talk about long-distance sail preparations and most importantly, disconnect. We sail by our principles of Safety - Comfort - Sailing. Join us on this incredible adventure!

TRAVEL LOGISTICS

All our sailing trips are subject to weather conditions which could influence our route and expected departure and arrival dates. Book flexible and take out travel insurance for the duration of your trip.

Libra welcomes you on board on June 6th. Fly into the L.F. Wade International Airport (BDA) on Bermuda and make your way to the boat at anchor in St George's.

Plan your departure from the vessel on June 22nd to allow enough time to complete the passage and customs clearance. Horta has a small airport (HOR) with local flights to international airports such as Azores Airport in Ponta Delgada (PDL) located on the island of São Miguel and Lisboa (LIS), the capital of Portugal. There is also a ferry that operates between Horta (Faial) and Ponta Delgada (São Miguel)  and takes up to 14 hours.

You need a valid passport book for both destinations
