It’s hard to believe 9/11 happened almost 20 years ago. America learned many lessons that day and was changed forever. One of the lasting lessons was the brave, self-sacrificing nature of our first responders, and how much we rely on them not just on the worst of days, but every day. Police, Fire Fighters, Paramedics, Nurses, Doctors… many made the ultimate sacrifice that day, and they sacrifice for the greater good every day.

 

2020 & 2021 has been an… interesting year. Pandemic. Wildfires. Hurricanes. Riots. Nothing new on the one hand, but the scale has been daunting. And, once again, first responders are there on the front lines for the greater good.

 

While we can never thank these brave men and women enough, here at Sail Libra we want to give back a little. This is the inspiration and motivation for our First Responders Program.

 

As a small thank you, we offer a 20% discount for select first responders. With community involvement and creative use of GoFundMe and other social media by sponsors, passages could actually end up being free to the recipient. The cathartic nature of an ocean passage under sail might be just what some of these every day heroes need to recharge and carry on.

 

For a variety of reasons, this offer is for our normal passage trips excluding expedition level voyages for Ocean Crossing or to Polar regions, The Panama Canal, and the Suez Canal. We can only extend this offer to one First Responder per trip, but over the course of a season we can provide this opportunity a sizable number of deserving individuals. We are dedicated to giving them all we can and are hoping to have them aboard every trip.
